My dad loved to grow things ….fruit trees, beans, tomatoes, peppers, garlic, onions, house plants, geraniums …from seed or from cuttings ! Whatever he grew …it was always a labour of love! When he grew much older and lived in “The Retirement Home” he was forgetting things —- how to prune or graft and he forgot the names of the plants he once loved. The memories of the gardens he grew faded away. Still, with the care of the recreation staff he was able to enjoy his love of gardening once again with the horticulture club which offered an opportunity to touch the soil , and watch things grow, as well as create lovely floral projects ! I will always be grateful for the horticulture club activities which gave him the opportunity to engage in this love of gardening! 🥰🌺🌾
