During the hot hot days of summer , when the local fruit stands are overflowing with fresh local fruit and vegetables, I realize how very fortunate I have been to grow up in the Niagara Region! Fresh fruits and veggies are there for the picking every summer! It takes me back to early childhood when I would help myself to fresh strawberries or raspberries, in my grandpaโs garden. In later years , as Grampa grew old and the backyard garden grew smaller, he would visit a local farm or market and make sure to pick up an extra basket for our family. He would drive over, and come to the door, basket in hand, just to drop them off ! Mom always told me Grampa just wanted an excuse to see us , even for five minutes!
Now that I myself am a grandparent, I find myself doing the same thing! I cannot pass a fruit stand without wondering if I should stop and pick up something for the kids! Maybe they would enjoy a basket of fresh picked berries or maybe some corn on the cob! Any excuse to pop by and just say hello and have a wonderful day ! I guess this is a family tradition! It is love! ๐ฅฐ๐๐๐๐๐
